With The State Of The Economy, How Much Do You Think Is Enough As Minimum Wage In Nigeria?

The issue of minimum wage in Nigeria has called for serious concern as Nigeria Labour Congress ordered a nationwide strike to that effect today.

According to the Labour Union, N18,000 minimum wage is a deadly wage which can no longer meet the major needs of most workers in Nigeria and as such, there is need for increase.

NLC calls for a nationwide strike today due to Federal Government’s inability to fulfill their N50,000 to N66,000 minimum wage demand.

Truth be told, even the N18,000 minimum wage, some states in Nigeria are still finding it hard to pay workers. What then will happen if there is an increase?

We are all aware of how though it is for an average Nigerian youth to be subjected to surviving through a whole month with N18,000 only. Even if there is going to be an increase, is N50,000 appropriate given that the economy is still not balanced?

It is however important to note that, if the Federal Government increase minimum wage to N50,000 price of things in market will automatically go up (Inflation). Market women got no chill, they will also want to feel the minimum wage increase.

The question for the day now is 👇
