Argentina international Lionel Messi has returned to Barcelona after crashing out with his national team from the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Lionel Messi and his national team struggled to qualify for the round of 16 stages at the 2018 World Cup after beating the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their last Group D game.

But they were sent out of the tournament by France who won their round of 16 game 4-3 thanks to superb brace from PSG forward Kylian Mbappe.

In a video twitted by ESPN, Lionel Messi arrived Barcelona airport with a frown face and ignored all the reporters who have been waiting for his arrival.

Despite his superb form for Barcelona last season, Lionel Messi only scored one goal at the 2018 World Cup in Russia which was against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

There have also been news going round that the 31-year-old could announce his retirement from international football.

Goals from Messi and Rojo secured qualification for Argentina as Chelsea winger Victor Moses also scored his first goal in the World Cup for Nigeria who are three-time African champions.
