Alex Iwobi Makes History In Super Eagles Match Against England

Super Eagles forward, Alex Iwobi on Saturday evening made history in Nigeria’s 2-1 loss to England in a pre-World Cup friendly game played at the Wembley Stadium.

Gernot Rohr’s men conceded two goals from Gary Cahill and Harry Kane in the first half before responding with an Alex Iwobi strike after the break.

Iwobi goal against the Three Lions means, the Arsenal star became the first and only Nigerian player to score against England.

Speaking after the match, Iwobi tweeted, “Love to all the Naija supporters that came out to Wembley today and to all the Nigeria’s supporters around the world.

“Not the result we wanted but we push forward to Russia.”

Rohr’s side will face Czech Republic in their next warm up game before heading out to Russia and getting their 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign underway in a fortnight
