Bayern won’t sell Lewandowski to Real Madrid, Club Chairman insists

Real Madrid fans hoping to see Robert Lewandowski in Los Blancos colors will have to wait a little longer or better still stop hoping as Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said the striker is not for sale.

The 29-year-old’s 32 goals haul this season has attracted a lot of suitors- the Santiago Bernabeu side being one of them. This interest is because with the European champions want a new striker who will compete with Karim Benzema.

The decision to make Pini Zahavi his new agent has further fuelled the rumour that he wants to bring his four-year spell at Bayern to an end but Rummenigge believes that just as Chelsea failed to lure Franck Ribery away 10 years ago, Real Madrid will fail in their bid.

“I always like to remember 2008, when we had an amazing offer from Chelsea for Franck Ribery,” he told Kicker.

“From that day on, the whole football world knew: nobody can buy a Bayern Munich player against Bayern Munich’s will.
“I want to assume that Robert is 100 per cent going to play for Bayern next season.”
Lewandowski joined Bayern Munich from Borussia Dortmund in 2014.
